Charlotte Brown

Charlotte B. Brown, age 95 of Savanna, Illinois, passed into heaven on Friday, September 23, 2016 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Community United Church of Christ, Savanna. Burial will take place in Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Charlotte’s memory.
Charlotte was born on December 4, 1920, the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Harkness) Miller in Elizabeth, Illinois. She attended Hanover High School and graduated with the Class of 1938. Charlotte married Wayne B. Brown on October 12, 1940 in Savanna. Wayne died on August 13, 1988.Charlotte was a homemaker who treasured taking care of her family. Charlotte was an active member of Community United Church of Christ, where she participated in Lend a Hand, Unit 8. She was a fifty-year member of Take Off Pounds Sensibly (T.O.P.S.). She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge and 500. Most of all, Charlotte cherished spending time with her loving family and friends.
Charlotte will be dearly missed by two sons, Kenneth (Pam) Brown of Savanna and Keith (Penny) Brown of Savanna; one daughter in-law, Joyce Brown of Gillette, Wyoming; two daughters, Karen (Donald) Nolte of Savanna and Beverly (Richard) Grissinger of Savanna; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; and eleven great-great grandchildren.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; one son, Richard Brown; two brothers, Marion “Bing” and Dwight Miller; one sister, Mary Ellen “Peg” Murphy; and one great granddaughter, Riley Brown.
