Charles “Chuck” Joseph Waser, age 92, of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at his home. Per Chuck’s wishes his body will be donated to science and a burial committal service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to St. Mary Catholic Church, Elizabeth or Elizabeth Ambulance Association.
Chuck was born August 31, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Fred and Mabel (Leader) Waser. On August 20, 1938 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Szabo in Chicago. Chuck was a proud U.S. Verteran and accomplished horse trainer who worked with the Calvary before and during WWII. He held many jobs including farming, streetcar driver for the Chicago Transit Authority, large equipment sales, and school and tour bus driver.
Chuck was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, going to garage sales and making birdhouses. Most of all, Chuck loved spending time with his family and friends.
Chuck is survived by his son, William (Carol) Waser of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; a daughter, Nancy (Tom) Rife of Elizabeth; a son-in-law, Don (Cathy Asher) Lisk of Stockton, Illinois; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren, and a special friend Mariam McClaine of Elizabeth.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; daughter, Judy Lisk and one granddaughter Leeann.
