Charles “Bill” William Kingery, age 87, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society, Mt. Carroll. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Lanark Cemetery, Lanark, Illinois.
Bill was born September 3, 1929, in Salem Township on the family farm, the son of Charles and Elfreda (Wenzel) Kingery. He attended Mt. Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1948. On December 26, 1953, Bill married Beverly Stricker in Mt. Carroll, just prior to serving his country in the United States Army, and later, the National Guard. They celebrated 61 years of marriage until Beverly’s death on October 23, 2015.
Bill and Beverly farmed together for 34 years until retirement. He was a member of the Cyrus Masonic Lodge #188, the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mt. Carroll and a member of the Board of Directors of the Mt. Carroll National Bank. He loved taking road trips to around the country, and going square dancing with Beverly. His nephews and nieces were especially close, and he always treated them as if they were his own children.
Bill will be dearly missed by his two sisters, Ruth Pauley of Monroe, Wisconsin, and Gene (Bob) Hoak of Polo, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; two sisters, Helen Fritz and Fern Henry, and his parents.
