Charles Brock

Charles Brock, age 87, of Thomson, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Big Meadows. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Thomson. Private family burial of ashes will take place at a later date in the Lower York Cemetery, Thomson, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Thomson American Legion or the York Community Church.

Charles was born April 27, 1930, in Savanna, Illinois, the son of Rudy and Florence (Krafft) Brock. Charles was a graduate of the Savanna High School. Charles served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He served in the SeaBees where he learned additional skills in the operation of heavy equipment. On January 6, 1956 Charles married Nancy Davis in Morrison, Illinois. They celebrated 53 years of marriage. Nancy passed away February 17, 2009.

Charles was a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years, belonging to Local #150. He was a member of the Thomson American Legion. He was an active participant in many projects for both the Legion and the York Community Church. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and fixing just about anything.

Charles will be dearly missed by his four daughters, Marie (Randy) Durward of Argo Fay, Illinois, Kathy Brock and Diana Brock, both of Davenport, Iowa, and Beverly (Terry) Mootz of Thomson, Illinois; four grandchildren, Rachel (Ryan) Eissens, Amy (Dustin) Hook, Eric (Ashley) Durward, and Bridgid (David) Tinker; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Riley, Emmett Eissens and Hudson Hook; a brother, Carl “Bud” Brock of Thomson, Illinois; a sister, Paula (Robert) Nehrkorn of New Boston, Texas; a sister-in-law, Carol Brock of Social Circle, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews. Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; both parents; a son, Michael; a brother, Jim; two sisters-in-law, Joan Patterson and Mary Brock; and a brother-in-law, Neil Patterson.
