Celia T. Hartman

Celia T. Hartman, age 32, of Thomson, IL, succumbed to her illness and passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022 at University of Iowa Hospitals, in Iowa City, IA. A private memorial gathering will be held in her honor. A public celebration of Celia's life will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at River Ridge High School. Inurnment will take place in the future at Lower York Cemetery in Thomson. A memorial fund has been established in Celia’s name. Celia was born December 29, 1989 in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Craig and Linda (Hoppe) Priegel. She graduated from River Ridge High School with the class of 2008. She would proceed to earn her bachelor’s degree from Ashford University, and her Master’s from the American College of Education. On May 13, 2017, Celia had her perfect wedding day and married her best friend Travis Hartman at Heritage Canyon.

Celia, a 2nd grade teacher for many years and currently a preschool teacher at River Ridge School District, was seemingly born to help guide young minds. She was truly passionate about her career and harbored a genuine love for every one of her students.

In her free time, Celia found peace in being outdoors, laying in the sun reading and shooting guns with her dad and brothers. She enjoyed camping with family, spending her days cruising our beautiful segment of the Mississippi River, and traveling to see many national parks, friends, and family. Life for Celia was always at its best when she was surrounded by family and friends. She was blessed with a group of friends for whom she was ever-thankful, and she cherished even the simplest memories they created together. She adored animals and spent her younger years working at Safe Haven Animal Shelter in Elizabeth, IL.

Celia will be dearly missed by her husband, Travis; father, Craig (Becky Pierce) Priegel, of Thomson,IL; brothers, Clint Priegel, of Elizabeth, IL and Tyler Priegel, of Savanna, IL; Father and Mother-in-law Thomas (Betty) Hartman sisters-in-law, Kristina (Michael) Kussmaul, of Thomson, IL and Nicole (Bryan) Faur, of Andover, IA; nieces, Addyson Hartman-Kussmaul and Kilee Faur; nephew, Brayden Faur; honorary nephews, Brogan and Brigson Grube; Grandmother Cecilia Phillips, of Montgomery, IL; 3 dogs and 2 cats; and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. Celia is preceded in death by her mother, Linda; grandparents, Ronald Priegel and George and Cecilia Hoppe; and uncles, Robert Hoppe and Ken Hoppe.
