Cathrine L. Shanafelt

Cathrine Lynn Shanafelt, of Clinton, IA, passed away peacefully under hospice care at University Hospitals in Iowa City. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 1st, at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Thomson, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Lower York Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Heartland Pet Welfare, or to Tyler Shanafelt.

Cathy was born in Elgin, IL, March 3, 1971, daughter of Terry and Geri (Frank) Shanafelt. She attended Thomson schools and graduated from Thomson High School. Cathy was a stay at home mother to her son, Tyler, who has been her constant caregiver over the past several years. Aside from being a stay at home mom, Cathy enjoyed her many friends, TV Shows, coloring, music, and above all, her cats.

Cathy will be dearly missed by her son, Tyler Shanafelt; her father, Terry (Merrie Jo) Shanafelt; two sisters, Cindy (Kevin) Price and Casey (George) Cockerham; one uncle, three aunts, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cathy was preceded in death by her mother, Geri Shanafelt, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
