Catherine Ann Randecker, age 85, of, Mt. Carroll, Illinois peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Resthave in Morrison, Illinois. Private burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Mt. Carroll. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be given to the Mt. Carroll Church of God and Resthave in Morrison in Catherine’s memory. A Celebration of Life Service will be will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Church of God in Mt. Carroll.
Catherine was born April 19, 1932, in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Frank L. and Lula M. (Gump) Ross. She graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in 1950. On October 27, 1950, Catherine married Carlos Randecker. They celebrated 58 years of marriage until Carlos’s passing in 2009.
Besides raising a family, Catherine worked for the US Department of Agriculture. She also worked part time at the Carroll County Treasures office and for over 30 years was secretary for her husband’s business R & I Construction. During retirement in Texas she volunteered at Habitat for Humanity. She loved playing the piano and continued playing right up until her death. She enjoyed crocheting, was an avid reader, and loved fresh flowers. Catherine was dedicated to God and family and devoted her time teaching Sunday School and directing the Junior Choir at church. She liked singing in the choir and was involved in the WCSC at the Mt. Carroll Church of God where she was a member for over 60 years.
Catherine will be dearly missed by her 6 daughters, Jean Cooper of Newfield, New Jersey, Joan (Russ) Hartman of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, Susan (Gary) McMillin of Decatur, Illinois. Sharon Schultz of Freeport, Illinois, Linda (Allen) Pauley of Highland Village, Texas, Karen (Jeff) McDearmon of Morrison, Illinois; a daughter in-law, Carol Randecker of New Braunfels, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; twin brother Carl Ross of Porterville, California; sister Roberta Montgomery of Rockford, Illinois. Catherine is preceded in death by her son, Jerry; granddaughter, Kristy; great-granddaughter, Morgan; husband, Carlos; parents Frank and Lula; two brothers, Clifford and David and a sister, Betsey.
