Carole was born November 5, 1950, daughter of Orvle and Caroline (Thompson) Nicholson. She grew up in Hanover, and attended Hanover schools. Early in life Carole met Thomas Bourrette. Carole and Tom married in 1967. Together, they celebrated 16 years of marriage and raised four children.
Carole’s children remember her helping on the dairy farm as they were growing up and cooking amazing meals. Throughout her life, Carole was a member of the Hanover Methodist Church. At the center of Carole’s life though, was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her children were her pride and joy. Later in life Carole shared her heart, and became Mom to two more children, John and Ashly. Her kindness and selflessness live on in those she loved most.
Carole will be dearly missed by her four children, Penny Bourrette of Hanover, Patti Eade of Savanna, Jason Bourrette of Hanover, and Jeff (Lisa) Bourrette of Scales Mound; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rick (Karen) DeWees of Ottumwa, IA; and her ex-husband, Thomas Bourrette of Hanover. Carole is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Tiffany Knautz, her parents, Orvle and Caroline, her grandparents, Ivan and Alice Thompson, and her siblings, Cathy Hungarford, Tim Nicholson, and Melissa Nicholson.
