Carol Louise (Mueller) Krug, 79, of Elizabeth died Friday, November 25, 2011, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Derinda, followed by burial in the Derinda Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 28, at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Elizabeth.
Carol was born on January 22, 1932, daughter of Herbert F. and Louise A. (Hermann) Mueller, in Galena. She married Marvin Krug on February 21, 1958 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Galena.
Carol received her education from Galena Public Schools and graduated with the Class of ‘49. Carol started her bookkeeping career with George W. Klein & Son in Galena. She held various bookkeeping jobs throughout her life as well as being a homemaker. In her later years, she worked at the Galena Gazette and the Elizabeth Public Library.
Carol was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Derinda, and the ELCA Church Women. She volunteered her time helping with church dinners and fundraisers, quilt-making, and attending Bible studies. She also was an active member of the Elizabeth Historical Society.
Family was highly important to Carol, with the Hermann Family Reunion an important annual event of each year. Relay for Life became another annual event in honor of her brothers, Roger and Don.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 53 years, Marvin, and three children, Janice (Ronny) Appleby of Hazel Green, WI, Brian Krug of Freeport, IL, and Kevin (Patricia) Krug of Elizabeth, IL. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Timothy, Megan, and Stephanie Appleby, and Adam, Jacob, and Jared Krug, and two sisters-in-law, Nina Mueller of Lena, IL and Glenda Mueller of Buffalo, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Donald Mueller and Roger Mueller, and a granddaughter, Michele Appleby, April 17, 1984.
