Carol Honerbaum, age 74, of Hanover, IL, passed away, Friday, June 12, 2020, at MercyOne Hospital in Dubuque, IA. A private memorial service will be held, with inurnment taking place at Evergreen Cemetery, in Hanover. Family and friends are invited to share in Carol’s life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
Carol was born December 12, 1945, in Hanover, IL, the daughter of Winfield and Alice “Thelma” (Millington) Paisley. She spent her entire life as a member of the Hanover community. She attended Hanover schools, graduating with the class of 1964. Shortly after, on February 6, 1965, she married Joe Honerbaum, also of Hanover. They went on to have two children and celebrate 55 years of marriage before his passing earlier this year. As a teenager, Carol waitressed and was a “car hop” for the Drive-in at the Y. She was a homemaker while raising their children, and she cleaned houses and worked at the Ben Franklin in Hanover.
Carol, or most appropriately referred to as “Mom”, “Grandma”, and “Ma” was the most caring, loving person. No matter what she was going through, she always took care of everyone else first. She loved her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with all of her heart. She missed her late husband, Joe, very much, and now she and “Dad” are together again.
She loved the beauty of all the seasons, the way leaves blew in Autumn, the way the snow and ice sparkled on the trees in winter, the beautiful green trees and hillsides in spring, and the calming blue sky and big fluffy clouds in summer. Her thoughtfulness and witty sense of humor will be missed by everyone.
Carol will be dearly missed by her daughter, Theresa “Teri” (Bill) Neighbour of Morrison; her son, James “Jim” (Wanda) Honerbaum of Hanover; five grandchildren, Dave (Brittany) Middendorf, Stacy Middendorf (Fiancé Austin Chapman), Mark (Stephany) Honerbaum, Scott (Christine) Honerbaum and Brian Honerbaum; six great-grandchildren, John, Owen, Orion, Kellen, Everly and Paislee; Carol’s siblings, Lavon Rainey of Polk City, Iowa and Alex (Carolyn) Paisley of Dixon; a sister-in-law, Linda (Lloyd) Bushnell of Arizona, and many nieces and nephews.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Winfield and Thelma; husband, Joe; brothers, Duane Paisley and Carl Paisley; a sister, Norma Dauphin, sister-in-law Helen Paisley, and brothers-in-law Harold Rainey and Danny Dauphin.
