Carol Ann Bundy, age 79, of Savanna, Illinois, died on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, Illinois. Cremation Rites have been accorded. A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Center Hill Cemetery, rural Mt. Carroll. Carol was born on December 29, 1939, the daughter of William and Elizabeth(Gilbert) Kuhns in Savanna, Illinois. She attended Savanna High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. She later earned her Bachelor degree in education from Northern Illinois University in 1960. Carol married Jesse Bundy on September 11, 1959 in Galena, Illinois.
Carol taught for over thirty-five years and was a substitute teacher for an additional five years, retiring in 1994. Most of her teaching career was in the Hanover School District and later for the River Ridge School District. She was active in her community and was a member of several organizations. She was a thirty-five year member of Delta Kappa Gamma and was currently a member of the Jo Daviess County Retired Teachers. Carol was also a member of Junior Women’s Club and was a longtime member of the Women of the Moose. She also served as Washington Township Clerk for thirty-five years and served on the Savanna School Board for twelve years. Carol loved teaching, reading, word puzzles, traveling and lawn work. Most of all, Carol cherished spending time with her family.
Carol will be dearly missed by her husband of fifty-nine years, Jesse Bundy; one son, Michael (Laurie Smiley) Bundy of Savanna; one daughter, Lynn Murphy of Mt. Carroll; seven grandchildren, Carisa Sels, Ashley Durward, Kali Partin, Karis Bundy, Keegan Murphy, Kyle Murphy, and Kasey Murphy; and five great grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty; and her stepfather, Albert Handel.
