Carl F. Lantau, 87 of Thomson passed away Sunday, Dec 16, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Wed, Dec 19, 2012 at the Community United Church of Christ, Savanna, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec 18, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Law Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, IL. Carl was born Aug 14, 1925 at the Savanna Army Depot, the son of Martin and Blanche (Altenbern) Lantau. He married Marilyn Gregg, who passed away in 1988. In 1989, he married Geneva Altfillisch. Carl served in the Navy, then graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in engineering. He started his career at Standard Oil of Ohio, then returned to Savanna and managed the Savanna Lumber Company. In 1969 he began working at The National Bank of Savanna, retiring in 1986. Carl's hobbies were fishing, boating, hunting, and photography. He was a member of the Community United Church of Christ, Rotary, American Legion, Gun Club, Big Meadows Nursing Home Board, National Bank Board, Savanna School Board, Chamber of Commerce, and Investment Club. Survivors include his wife, Geneva, his children, Renee Risingsong, Molly Bowman, Jane DaSilva, Dan Lantau, and Nancy (Rick) Spencer, his step-children, Dennis (Jen) Altfillisch, Kathy (Dale) McCall, Duane (Karen) Altfillisch, and Donnie (Debbie) Altfillisch, 15 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren; and his sister, Molly MacFie. Carl was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn, his parents, Martin and Blanche Lantau, and his brother, Martin Lantau Jr.
