Carey Edward Massie, age 66, of Savanna, IL, passed away in his home with his family by his side, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. A private graveside service will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Savanna, IL. Family and friends are invited to share in his life at lawjonesfuneralhome.com.
Carey was born September 29, 1954, in Savanna, IL, the son of Edward and Lorene (Carey) Massie. He graduated from Savanna High School with the class of 1973. After high school, Carey joined the United States Army. Carey was a kind man who enjoyed helping people, and could often be seen going for leisurely drives throughout the county, or paddling his canoe through various lakes and rivers.
Carey is survived by four siblings, Barb (Alex) Masters, of Jacksonville, FL, Jerry (Terri) Massie, of Manteno, IL, Jack (Kris) Massie, of Johnstown, CO, and Kurt (Jackie) Massie, of Park View, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lorene, and his infant brother, David.
