Burton K. Sherich, age 77, of Hanover, Illinois died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at home surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover with Pastor Kurt Hansen of the Hanover St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover with Military Rites accorded by the Hanover VFW Post #5300. A visitation will be held 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the University of Illinois Medical Center Neurology Department- MC 792 Dept. of Neurology, Room 302 WROB, Chicago, IL. 60608.
Burt was born January 23, 1930, the son of Harley and Maude (Schinn) Sherich in Lodgepole, Nebraska. He graduated from Lodgepole High School in Nebraska. Burt served in the United States Navy from 1950-1954, during the Korean War. On March 28, 1956, Burt married Florence Kintz in Sidney, Nebraska. Burt worked at the Sioux Army Ordnance Depot in Brownson, Nebraska. He and Florence relocated to the Savanna area, where Burt worked in maintenance at the Savanna Army Depot, until retirement in 1985.
Burt very much loved and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, playing cards and woodworking. Burt was very proud of the trophies he and his partner won in golf.
Burt will be dearly missed by his wife, Florence; one son, Tim of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; three daughters, Lynn Bourrette of Hanover, Susan (Gene) Roberts of Hanover and Sandra (Michael) Wild of Elizabeth, Illinois; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three brothers, Bob (Loraine) Sherich of Lawrence, Kansas, Dale Sherich of Sobrante, California and Richard (Shirley) Sherich of Ogallala, Nebraska; and one sister Jean Proctor of Fairfield, Texas.
Burt is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Lloyd Maus, brother, Glen, sister, Norma and sister in-law, Sharon.
