Bonnie J. Carter, age 60, was a loving, caring and compassionate mom, grandma and friend. She died on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Bonnie was from Hanover, Illinois, and formerly of Savanna, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Bonnie was born on October 14, 1956 in Savanna, the daughter of Glen and Jureine (Howe) Doty. She attended Mt. Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1974. Bonnie was the Cafeteria Manager for twenty-five years in the West Carroll Primary School, until retiring in February of 2016. Bonnie was always helping others, but her family always came first. She was a hard worker and often worked two jobs to provide for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her most precious gifts. Bonnie loved the outdoors, especially taking walks, gardening and planting flowers. She also enjoyed shopping, attending craft fairs, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
Bonnie “Granny” will be dearly missed by her fiancé, David Bourrette of Hanover; two daughters, Michelle (Gordy) Hartman of Milan, Illinois, and Tara (Chad) Ferris of Fulton; one son, Jake (Jess) Engaldo of Savanna; five grandchildren, Blake, Aubrey, Tyler, Alyssa, and Abigayle; one brother, Brad Lantz of Brunswick, Ohio; and one sister, Susan (Larry) Randecker of Mission, Texas.Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Jim Doty.
