Bob Petty, age 61, of rural Mt. Carroll, Illinois, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at his home. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at the Law – Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, Illinois. According to his wishes, Bob will be cremated following visitation.
Bob was born September 23, 1949, in Niangua, Missouri, the son of William and Lena M. (Cook) Petty. He attended Rock Falls Schools. Bob proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He married Judy Acree on December 19, 1970, in Sterling, Illinois.
Bob worked as a supervisor at Metform in Savanna before retiring in 1994. He was recently working construction for the Laborers International Local #727 out of Dixon, Illinois. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing with his dogs. Papa loved his grandchildren very much and they were the light of his life. Bob’s family meant the world to him and he will be missed by them dearly.
Bob is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Judy of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; two daughters, Misty (Scott) Piehn of Freeport, Illinois, and Colleen (Chad Nicks) Petty of Evanston, Illinois; three grandchildren, Kirsten, Morgan, and Jackson; his parents, William and Lena Petty of Rock Falls, Illinois; his mother - in - law, Lucille Acree of Savanna, Illinois; four brothers, Jim (Laura) Petty of Rock Falls, Rick (Roxanne) Petty of Rock Falls, Harold Petty of Sterling, Illinois, and Jim (Patty) Acree of Savanna; two sisters, Barbara (Al) Ray of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Becky (Paul) Thornton of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by one brother; one grandson, Brennan Piehn; his father – in – law, James Acree; and his grandparents.
