Blanche L. Manning, age 89 of Savanna, Illinois, died Monday, September 23, 2013 at Mercy Living Center North, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. A visitation will be held from one hour prior to the service from 10 – 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery.
Blanche was born January 23, 1924, the daughter of Conrad and Hattie (Hartman) Sack in Savanna. She attended Mt. Carroll Schools. Blanche married Frank Ferris on December 29, 1942. He passed away in 1977. She then married John Manning on August 27, 1983. He died in 1998.
Blanche was a homemaker, and worked for National Lock in Savanna as a lineworker for 25 years. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Savanna. She loved taking care of her two great grandsons, Jeff and Jacob. Blanche also enjoyed going to the casino, caring for her pet cat at home, and doing Word Find puzzles. She was able to live in her own home until just recently.
Blanche will be dearly missed by her daughter, Barbara (Lawrence) Casey of Savanna; two grandsons, Frank (Gwen) Casey and Tom (Denise) Casey; five great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jacob, Taylor, Paige, and Christina, and one great-great-granddaughter, Shelby.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Frank and John; two sisters, Mildred Dittmar and Vala Lief, and one brother, Ronald Sack.
