Billy Lee Edwards

Billy Lee Edwards “Speedy”, age 76, passed away November 23 2025 at OSF Saint Katherine Medical Center in Dixon Illinois. He was born June 23, 1949 in Savanna, Illinois, the son of William, Jr and Betty (Chapman) Edwards. Billy attended the Center Hill school near Mt. Carroll until the eighth grade and then as a young man began driving truck, including a milk truck route and also a semi hauling livestock and grain. He was a truck driver for many years until his health required him to retire. His CB Handel was “Speedy”. Billy enjoyed being with family and also seeing the countryside when he was driving truck. His family helped care for him for several years at home, he also spent four years at the Allure of Stockton nursing center before going to the Oregon Living and Rehab center in Oregon Illinois.

Billy will be dearly missed by a daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Clubb of Monroe Center; a son Brian (Audra) Smith of Colorado; grandchildren include Samantha (Rusty) Rose, Brandon (Kotah) Clubb, Jessica (Maurice) Griffith, Ava Smith and Hunter Smith; great grandchildren include Malahki and Ameille Griffith; Siblings include Nancy (David) Williams of Freeport, Debbie Davenport of Savanna, Peggy Shaw of Savanna, Terry (Penny) Edwards of Thomson, Ricky (Alice) Edwards of Stockton; Aunt Barb; and a brother-in-law, John Bork. He is proceeded in death by both parents; a sister Joyce; two brothers Tom and Gary; several aunts and uncles, a nephew Rusty Edwards; and Billy’s x-wife Debbie Meador.

To honor Billy‘s life there will be a graveside service 11 AM Saturday, December 6 at Evergreen cemetery in Hanover followed by a celebration of life from 12 to 3 PM at Mannys in Savanna. Law-Jones funeral home is serving the family.
