Betty Olivia Strauch

September 27, 1941 — March 24, 2017

Betty Olivia (Motley) Strauch, age 75, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial gathering will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Betty’s memory to the Mt. Carroll Ambulance Association.
Betty was born September 27, 1941, to Robert Glenn and Mary (Boger) Motley in Davie County, North Carolina. In June 1964, she married Dennis Lee Strauch in Salisbury, North Carolina. She worked as an executive administrator for the Carroll County Highway Department for many years before retiring in 2000. Betty was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Mt. Carroll. She enjoyed baking, reading, and traveling. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her husband, Dennis; two children, Michele (Matt) Holcomb of Firestone, Colorado, and Eric (Donna) Strauch of Lanark, Illinois; three grandchildren, Shelby Moore of Denver, Colorado, and Keegan and Avery Strauch of Lanark; two step-grandchildren, Michael Holcomb of Los Angeles, California, and Stephen Holcomb of Firestone, Colorado; one step-great-granddaughter, Knekola Holcomb of Firestone, Colorado; two sisters, Edwina Hill of Salisbury, North Carolina, and Linda (John) Caldwell of Mount Ulla, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Judy Motley of Salisbury, and Patty Motley of Granite Quarry, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Glenn, John, David, and Robert.
