Betty R. Schott, age 86, of Savanna, IL, passed away in her home Sunday, May 17, 2020. A celebration of life will be held on a later date. Betty was born January 23, 1934 in McGregor, IA, the daughter of Raymond and Winnifred (Boyle) Fields. She attended school in Marquette, IA, graduating with the class of 1952. On October 7, 1952, in Wichita Falls, TX, Betty married Donald Schott. The couple went on to have two children, Donald, Jr. and Elizabeth Carrie.
Betty adored her family. She spent her adult life as a mother and homemaker, and in time, put those skills to good use on her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many hours emailing her widespread family members, making sure to stay up to date with all of them. In her free time, Betty enjoyed reading and playing cards, and was a member of the Church of the Open Door, in Clinton, IA.
Betty will be dearly missed by her husband of 67 years, Donald; daughter Elizabeth Garver, of Manassas Park, VA; five grandchildren, Brianna (Josh) Becker, Jessica (Danny) Kowal, Jason (Sara) Schott, Nick Garver, and Jake Garver; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jayden, Kayleigh, Weston and Jaylee, and Sophie and Arianna; and many extended family members and friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Winnifred; son, Donald Schott, Jr.; and sisters, Barb Cook and Marjorie Cook.
