Betty Jean McCue, age 87, of Savanna, Illinois died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at home. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savanna with Father Dennis Atto as Celebrant. Burial of ashes will take place in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. Memorial visitation will be held 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Antl Hall, Savanna, prior to the Funeral Mass on Saturday. Memorials may be given to Mercy Home Care or Mercy Hospice in Betty's memory.
Betty was born in Savanna on April 26th, 1924 the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Ginie) Nicoletti. She attended Savanna Catholic School and graduated from Savanna High School with the Class of 1943. Betty married Virgil “Tige” McCue on September 21, 1952 in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.
Betty worked as a Finance Accounting Technician at the Great Lakes Separation Center for two years and then went to work for the Savanna Army Depot for twenty-eight years until her retirement in 1973.
Betty enjoyed traveling to many different places and gambling. Most of all she loved spending time with her husband and the Boyd and Sally Ritchie family. She felt just like they were her own.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Virgil “Tige” of Savanna; nieces and nephew, Sherie (Herm) Melton, Michelle (Rob) Gonzales and Michael (Diana) Clifton; many great nieces and nephews; a sister, Roberta (Maurice) Clifton of Bellevue, Iowa, and her companion dog, Punkie. Betty is preceded in death by her parents.
