Betty Ann Gillen, age 66, of Savanna, Illinois passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center, Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna with Father Dennis Atto officiating.. Burial will take place in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Savanna. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Betty’s honor.
Betty was born March 14, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Harold David and Margurite Marian (Burke) Laing. She is a 1967 graduate of Northeast High School, Goose Lake, Iowa. On April 18, 1968, Betty married Frank Gillen. They have celebrated forty-seven years of marriage.
Betty loved camping and fishing with family. She was a great cook and always enjoyed making meals for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty worked forty years at Drives, Inc. in Fulton, Illinois as a Cam Die Operator.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Frank of Savanna; four sons, Frank (Cathy) Gillen of Freeport, Illinois, Rick Gillen of Clinton, Iowa, Daniel (Rebekah) Gillen of Sterling, Illinois and Troy (Georgie) Alderman of Preston, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, Samantha, Raquel, Marie, Christopher, Sabreena, Mikael, Daimon, Amanda, Zachary, Gabrielle, Tiffany, Alesia, Joey and Grace; thirteen great grandchildren; and her brother, Edmund (Renate) Laing of Arizona. Betty is preceded in death by a son, Joseph; her sister, Marilyn Baldridge; a brother at birth, William Laing; and both parents.
