Betty J. Flammang

Betty Jean Flammang, age 82 of Savanna, Illinois, died on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 21, 2013 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Burial will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery, Savanna. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00, prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Betty’s memory.
Betty was born on May 5, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Nellie (Milburn) Ditzler in Ottawa, Illinois. Betty’s father died when she was young and she was raised by her mother, Nellie and John Sears in DeKalb, Illinois. Betty attended school in DeKalb and she graduated from DeKalb High School. Betty married John Flammang in the spring of 1947 in Aurora, Illinois.
Betty was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. When she wasn’t taking care of her family, Betty worked at various restaurants as a waitress. She also worked in the cafeteria at the Aurora Municipal Airport. She was a former member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Aurora, where she was active in several church functions. She enjoyed bowling and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Betty will be dearly missed by son, Jeff (Becki) Flammang of Savanna; three daughters, Susan Collins of Big Rock, Illinois, Judy Flammang of North Aurora, Illinois and Barbara Duvall of Rockford, Illinois; ten grandchildren, Corinna Bates, Colene and Corelle Flammang and Samantha and Christopher Collins; and four great grandchildren, Jason and Jacie Miller, Haiden Bates and Cameron George Collins.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John.
