Betty Farrell, age 63 of Preston, Iowa died Monday, March 23, 2015 at her home in Preston, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston. Burial of Ashes will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Preston. A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Betty was born on May 20, 1951, the daughter of Norbert and Alice (Heiar) Bormann in Bellevue, Iowa. She attended Marquette High School, graduating with the Class of 1969. She then attended the United Flight Attendant School in Minneapolis. On October 20, 1973, Betty married Garry Farrell in Bellevue. They have celebrated 41 years of marriage.
Betty worked as a Lab Tech for H.J. Heinz in Muscatine, Iowa for a three years. She also worked at the Sabula Speaker factory for a short time and Gerlach LP Gas in Preston for 15 years. In 2000, she and her husband Garry began working together at Farrell Inc. LP, Grain and Feed. She was in charge of the LP Gas division and made friends with every customer. Betty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Preston Lions Club. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, walking and doing yardwork. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Betty will be dearly missed by her husband, Garry Farrell of Preston; three sons, Jason Farrell of Elvira Iowa, Jamison (Sherri) Farrell of Preston, and Jeric (Maggie) Farrell of Preston; eight grandchildren, Justin, Ethan, Addison, Summit, Braydin, Andin, Hadley, and Jaylee; four sisters, Linda Ryan of Fruitland, Iowa, Nancy (Tom) Farrell of Preston, Bonnie (Dennis) Miller of Preston and Mary Kay (Terry) Creegan of Maquoketa, Iowa; and her “granddog”, Ali. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Alice; a sister, Jane Feltes; and one brother-in-law, Donnie Farrell.
