Betty L. Anderson, nee Scharf, age 95, went home to the Lord on Saturday, December 6, 2025. She was born in Dubuque, Iowa, to Harry and Cordelia (Schlickman) Scharf on October 27, 1930, and married John “Jack” Edward Anderson on February 4, 1950. She resided at Manor Court of Freeport. Her days residing there were filled with love and respect.
She is survived by her children: Steven Wayne (Mino) Anderson; Vicki Lou (Bill) Davis; Robert Todd (Wanda) Anderson; daughter-in-law, Colleen Anderson (wife of deceased son, John Scott). The love and support she gave us will truly be our forever gift of love that we share and give to our own. She truly was a strong, respected woman.
Surviving grandchildren: Leslie Marie (Jeremy) Fox; Reed William Davis; Kira Emaline (Matthew) Hannum; Kristopher John (Claire) Anderson; Ian Michael (Sarah) Anderson; Heather Rose Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. Happy times remembered that brought Mockie joy. “Mockie” as she was lovingly called.
Great grandchildren: Adeline and Oliver Fox; Emaline and Isla Hannum; Charlotte and Ellison Anderson. Her joy was abundant in seeing their pictures and videos as they grew. So delightful to her.
She is predeceased in death by her husband: John “Jack” Edward Anderson; her first born son, John Scott Anderson; granddaughters Kristen Mary and Hillary Elizabeth Anderson (twin daughters of John Scott and Colleen), and Shana Marie Anderson (daughter of Robert Todd and Wanda Anderson); her parents, Harry and Cordelia (nee Schlickman) Scharf; her sister, Virginia (John) Schedler; and brothers, Wayne (Millie) Scharf and Bob Scharf. All of whom she loved dearly and kept in her prayers.
Betty’s greatest adventure and true destination to everlasting being is in God’s Sanctuary. She was our mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She thoroughly enjoyed her family, traveling, dancing, playing euchre, fishing, participating in events, welcoming new friends and enjoying old friends. Our memories of our Mom and our Mockie will give us great comfort.
Betty was especially thankful and grateful in these past years for the sincere care and assistance that was provided to her from the staff at Heritage Woods of Freeport and Manor Court of Freeport.
Betty retired from the Savanna Army Depot on April 30, 1993 after 26 years of service.
Betty was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Savanna, IL.
