Bette Morgan

September 9, 1922 — November 18, 2013

Bette Morgan was a “feisty old broad,” according to her family. She entered into heaven at the age of 91 on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mt. Carroll, Illinois.
Bette was born on September 9, 1922, the daughter of Louis and Lorena (Bleakley) Noble in Mt. Carroll. She attended Mt. Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1940. Bette worked as a secretary for Chadwick Schools for nine years, John Leaman Law Office in Mt. Carroll for fifteen years until her retirement in December of 1987. On January 18, 1947, Bette married Ross Gibson in DeKalb, Illinois. Ross passed away December 30, 1958 in Dixon, Illinois. Bette later married James Morgan on August 3, 1962 in Chadwick. James passed away April 13, 1976 in Freeport, Illinois.
Bette was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chadwick, Oakville Golf Course. She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Bette enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and reading. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Bette will be dearly missed by her daughter, Barbara (Raymond) Alexander of Chadwick; one step-son, Sherman (Bonnie) Morgan of Hampshire, Illinois; a step-daughter in-law, Ingrid Gibson of Bourbonnais, Illinois; three grandchildren, Bradley (Angela) Alexander of Sterling, Illinois, Amber (David) Smith of Lanark, Illinois, Erin (James) Berg of Buckner, Missouri; seven step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Dyson of Mt. Carroll, Patricia (Robert) Wolber of Mt. Carroll; one brother, Robert (Janice) Noble of Rockford, Illinois. Bette is preceded in death by her husbands, Ross and James and two step-daughters.
A memorial service will be held10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chadwick. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Rock River Hospice and First Lutheran Church in Bette’s memory.
