Bette A. (Mills) Allison, age 92, of Savanna, Illinois, died Monday, March 26, 2007 at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2007. at the First United Methodist Church in Savanna, Illinois. Bette was born on October 21, 1914, in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of Bill and Pearl (Orr) DeWitt. She graduated from Hot Springs Arkansas High School with the class of 1932, she later attended Cosmetology School in Chicago, Illinois Bette married Edwin Mills on February 14, 1936 in Muscatine, Iowa. After Edwin’s death Bette married William E. Allison on April 18, 1975 in Savanna, Illinois.Bette was employed at the Savanna Army Depot for many years as a Telephone Operator. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Savanna, where she taught Sunday school. Bette was also a member of the Palisades Art League. She was a Cub Scout Leader and served on the Girl Scout Board in Savanna. Bette was known for crafting beautiful and unique porcelain dolls, she also enjoyed teaching others how to make themBette will be dearly missed by three sons; Edwin (Lorene) Mills of Savanna, Paul (Sue) Mills of Savanna, and Jack (Meredith) Mills of Texarkana, Texas; one daughter-in-law Jeannine Mills of Savanna; two step sons Wesley (Marlene) Allison of Davenport, Iowa and Richard (Margaret) Allison of Rockford, Illinois; four sisters; Charlene Nelson of Troy, Alabama, Marian Henderson of Vancouver, Washington, Patricia (Bradley) Johnson of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Barbara (Bill) Halbert of Nashville, Tennessee; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one special nephew, Kenneth Mills of Holiday Island, Arkansas and one special niece, Susan Reid of Shreveport, Louisiana.Bette is preceded in death by both husbands; Edwin Mills and Bill Allison; one son Tom Mills; one daughter DiAne Noles and one sister Dorothy Ann Campbell.
