Betsy J. Dannels Frankel of West Islip, NY, formally of Savanna, IL, passed away Monday, October 11, in West Islip. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Savanna. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, as well as one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Betsy was born July 24th, 1944, daughter of Ambrose and Mabel (Hass) Dannels. She grew up in Savanna, and attended Savanna High School, graduating with the class of 1962. After High School Betsy her husband, David Frankel, as he was stationed at the Savanna Army Depot. Betsy and David married in 1969. Together they raised one daughter, and celebrated 28 years of marriage until David's passing in 1997.
At the center of Betsy's life was her family. She was always a loving and giving mother, and took great pride in her grandchildren, and great-grandchild. Betsy was also a huge Chicago sports fan. She loved to watch the Bears, Cubs, and especially the Jordan Era Bulls. In her spare time Betsy liked to unwind and watch old movies, specifically the films of Bette Davis and Joan Fontaine.
Betsy will be dearly missed by her daughter, Velvet (Thomas) Isenhour of Clinton, IA; two granddaughters, Anneliese (Nic Scobee) Isenhour of Prophetstown, IL, and Emma Isenhour of Clinton, IA; one great-grandson, Zander Isenhour; one sister, Nancy, (Marvin) Johnson of Miles, IA; one brother, Charles (Peggy) Dannels of Savanna; and a step-brother, Jim Dannels.
Betsy was preceded in death by her husband, David Frankel; her parents, Ambrose and Mabel; and by her son, David Edward Dannels.
