Bernice Margaret Maszk

Bernice Margaret Maszk, age 89, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mt. Carroll. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Mount Carroll Church of God, Mount Carroll. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll.
Bernice was born January 30, 1923 in Freedom Township, Illinois, the daughter of Leslie and Lucinda (Morhardt) Frederick. She attended Sage Country Schools in Mount Carroll. On September 8, 1948, Bernice married Daniel Maszk. She and her husband lived in North Dakota and Minnesota for 20 years. Daniel died in 1968. Bernice and her children moved back to Mt. Carroll in 1969.
Bernice was a homemaker for most of her life. She also worked at the Savanna Army Depot during World War II, several years at the Savanna Telephone Company as an operator, and 17 years for the Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mount Carroll. She was a member of the Mt. Carroll Church of God. She enjoyed time spent on embroidery, puzzle books, and raising plants and flowers.
Bernice will be dearly missed by a three sons, Dale Maszk of Savanna, Paul Maszk of Mt. Carroll and Brian (Mary) Maszk of Mt. Carroll; a stepdaughter, Joyce (Michael) Gerszewski of Minto, North Dakota; two grandchildren, Joseph (Amber) Maszk, Megan (Anthony) Garibay; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-step grandchildren; three step great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Frederick of Mt. Carroll and Shelvy (Dale) Endress of Mt. Carroll; and a brother, Carl Frederick of Rock Falls, Illinois. Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; five brothers, Floyd, Leo, Sherman, Harvey and Dean; and a sister, Virginia Zimmerman.
