Bernice H. Kehl, age 80, of Mount Carroll, Illinois, went Home to be with her Lord, Monday, April 12, 2010, at FHN Hospital in Freeport, Illinois. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Mount Carroll Church of God. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, also at the Mount Carroll Church of God. A memorial has been established in Bernice’s name. Bernice was born March 14, 1930, in Freedom Township, Carroll County, Illinois, the daughter of Benjamin Harry and Laurine (Polhill) Dinderman. She attended Arnolds Grove, Arnold School and Mount Carroll High School. Bernice was married to Maynard Kehl on April 18, 1948, in Mount Carroll.Bernice was a homemaker who farmed with her husband Maynard in Freedom Township for over sixty years. She was a member of the Mount Carroll Church of God for almost sixty years and the Carroll County Farm Bureau, and a past member of the Freedom Township Homemakers Circle and the Carroll County Home Extension. Bernice was an excellent baker and was well known for her angel food cake. She enjoyed gardening, needle work, crocheting, and old time country music. Most importantly, Bernice loved playing games with her grandchildren and spending time with her family. Bernice is survived and lovingly remembered by three daughters, Barbara (Bill) Kampas of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Jean Kehl of Mount Carroll, and Linda (Bill) Zink of Fulton, Illinois; six grandchildren, Audra (Adam) Wojcik of Elkhorn, Missy (Travis Winter) Kampas of Denver, Colorado, Brian Kampas of Denver, Frank (Lauree) Brown of Savanna, Illinois, Ryan (Amber) Zink of Newton, Iowa, and Tracy Zink of Fulton; three great grandchildren, Megan and Joshua Wojcik of Elkhorn, and Emily Zink of Newton; one sister, Darline Frederick of Mount Carroll; and several nieces and nephews.Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Maynard Kehl, her parents, and one brother – in – law, Sherman Frederick.
