Bernice Margaret Christina Mullins, age 89, of Preston, Iowa died on Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Genesis East Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston, Iowa. Reverend Gregory Geier will officiate. Burial will be in the Miles City Cemetery, Miles, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa. Memorials may be given to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church elevator fund in Bernice’s memory. Bernice was born on October 26, 1917, in rural Miles, Iowa, the daughter of John and Louise (Kukkuck) Miller. Bernice attended Preston High School, graduating with the Class of 1935. She married Harry W. Badrick on June 2, 1937, in the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston. She later married Merwin “Moon” Mullins on September 1, 1958, in the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa. Bernice was a bookkeeper for Eastern Iowa Printing in Maquoketa, Iowa for many years. She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. Bernice was a longtime member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was an excellent cook who loved gardening, canning, sewing, fishing and traveling. Bernice will be deeply missed by two sons; Robert (Helen) Badrick of Preston, Iowa, Richard (Joyce) Badrick of Miles, Iowa; two daughters, Carol Milder of Preston, Connie (Len) Bormann of Preston; one sister, Anita Dohrmann of Clinton, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Joan Miller of Preston; eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merwin; one brother, Virgil; one sister, Avelda; four grandchildren and twin great-grandsons.
