Bernetta R. Boothby, age 90, of Miles, Iowa, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Eagle Point Nursing Home in Clinton, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 9, 2010 at the First United Presbyterian Church, Miles. Burial will take place in the Miles Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa.
Bernetta was born September 2, 1919 in Miles, Iowa, the daughter of Willard and Tena (Schroeder) Hass. The family moved to Baldwin, Iowa, and later Preston, where Bernetta graduated from the Preston High School. She attended the Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On August 17, 1939, Bernetta married John Daniel Boothby at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were married for sixty-five years. John passed away on February 25, 2005.
Bernetta was a homemaker and worked as a beautician for many years operating Bernetta’s Beauty Shop in Miles, Iowa. She was also a partner with her husband in Boothby Well Drilling. Bernetta was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Miles.
Bernetta is survived by two sons, James (Rhonda) Boothby of Clinton, Iowa and John W. (Judy) Boothby of Miles; a daughter, Arlee (Patrick) Beckerdite of DesMoines, Iowa; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two step sisters, Mildred Clarkson of Preston, Iowa and Nancy King of Bernet, Texas; and a niece, Connie Fink.
Bernetta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John and a sister, Evelyn Bickert.
