Barbara A. (Blake) Pettera, age 73, of Hanover, Illinois, died on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at the Big Meadows Nursing Home Savanna, Illinois. A Funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hanover. Father Stanislaw Kos will officiate. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2005 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Hanover. There will be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2005 at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in Barbara’s name.
Barbara was born January 17, 1932, the daughter of Charles and Amy (Miller) Blake, in Boscobel, Wisconsin. Barbara married Ralph Raymond Pettera on April 20, 1949 in Wauzeka, WI. Ralph died on February 27, 1987.
Barbara was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hanover, Illinois for many years. She also worked for the Eaton Corporation in Hanover, Illinois
Barbara enjoyed doing puzzle books and listening to country music. She also collected dolls and angels. Most of all Barbara was a warm and caring person who loved spending time with her family.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her two sons, John Pettera of Hanover, and George (DeAnna) Pettera of Hanover, Illinois; six daughters, Judy (Bruce) Moldenhauer of Hanover, Terry Jackson of Davenport, Iowa, Deb (Ed) Schreiner of Shannon, IL, Kathy Pettera Roberts of Hanover, Marie (John) Holland of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and Pat Pettera of Hanover; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; three brothers, George (Pearl) Blake of Fennimore, Wisconsin, Bob Blake of Madison, Wisconsin and Eddie Miller of Canada; Barbara will also be missed by several brothers and sisters in law and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; four sons, Stephen, Dennis, James and Thomas; two sisters and one brother.
