Barbara Holm

Barbara Holm, age 82, of Mt. Carroll, Illinois passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center Clinton, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Carroll Ambulance and the Good Samaritan Center in Barbara’s memory.

Barbara was born November 7, 1935, in Sabula, Iowa, the daughter of Gifford and Grace (Nagel) Geronzin. She attended Sabula schools while growing up. On August 8, 1953, Barbara married Ronald D. Holm in Mt. Carroll. They raised three children and celebrated 64 years of marriage.

Barbara lived for her grandchildren and her family. She was a great wife to her husband Ronald, and a devoted mom to JoAnn, Tina and Rodney. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, making all of her grandchildren blankets. Barbara was an owl collector and liked playing cards with family and friends.

Barbara spent 26 years in the laundry department at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mt. Carroll. She enjoyed helping with the residents.

Barbara will be dearly missed by her husband, Ronald and their two daughters, JoAnn (Rv.Robert ) Downs of Highland, Illinois and Tina (Gerald) Libberton of Savanna, Illinois and their son Rodney (Holly) Holm of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 7 grandchildren, Patrick (Kami) Brinkmeier, Sirena Pintelon, Joseph Young, Kelly Libberton, Jessica (Benjamin) Beck, Brittany Holm and Zachary Holm; 4 great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jasmynne, Shelbi, and Logan; a brother Gary (Donna) Geronzin of Clinton, Iowa. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Gifford Geronzin and Grace Creeley.
