Barbara Sue Casey, age 82, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at Home in Savanna, surrounded by her family.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Barbara was born May 7, 1943, in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Blanche (Sack) Ferris. She grew up in Savanna and graduated with the Class of 1961. On November 28, 1963, she married Lawrence "Larry" Casey in Savanna. Together, they raised two sons, Franklin and Thomas, and shared 61 loving years of marriage.
Barbara worked for many years as a Beautician in Freeport and later worked seasonally at Swiss Colony otherwise she was a homemaker. She loved spending time outdoors in her rock and flower gardens and enjoyed camping and fishing at the Savanna Army Depot. She loved watching wildlife and would aid any and all injured animals back to good health. She even raised and showed horses for many years. Some of her best memories were being a Savanna Indian cheerleader, being a part many High School Clubs and taking the train into Chicago to dress shop with her Mother.
Barbara will be dearly missed by her two sons, Frank (Gwen) Casey of Belfair, Washington and Thom (Denise) Casey of Thomson, Illinois; six grandchildren, Christina (Cory) Casey, Taylor Casey, Paige Casey, Paytin Casey, Jeff (Courtney) Casey and Jacob (Shirley) Casey; five great-grandchildren, Shelby, Gracelynn, Aria, Theodore and Sarai; and her beloved dog, Gracie.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her parents, Frank and Blanche, and her Stepfather, John "Jack" Manning.
