Audrey Struckman, age 90 of Savanna, Illinois died on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2013 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna with Pastor Nancy Wilkinson officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Sterling, Illinois. Audrey was born on October 11, 1922, the daughter of Ira and Amelia (Plomasen) Seeger in Sabula, Iowa. She attended Sabula High School and graduated with the Class of 1940. Audrey married Lowell P. Struckman on September 7, 1940 in Clinton, Iowa. Lowell died on October 5, 2005 in Savanna.
Audrey was a homemaker who treasured taking care of her family. She owned and operated “Deluxe Dry Cleaning” in Savanna for thirteen years. Audrey was later employed as a Sales Associate for Adams and Dabron Clothing Store for several years. She also worked as a Clerk for the City of Savanna and a Receptionist for Dr. Butler and Dr. Simmons Optometric Center in Savanna. She was a member of the Savanna Community Church, where she played the organ and the piano. Audrey was also a member of the Savanna Women of the Moose and served as past president of the Wa-Tan-Ye Club for many years. Audrey loved the outdoors, especially swimming, boating, water skiing, snow skiing and horseback riding. She also enjoyed embroidery work, knitting, crocheting and painting. Most of all, Audrey cherished spending time with her family and friends.
Audrey is survived by three grandchildren, Paul Smith of New Boston, Texas, Kristina Adams of Texarkana, Texas and Mark (Pam) Smith of New Boston, Texas; three great grandsons, Dylon, Logan and Caleb Smith, all of Savanna; two great granddaughters, Brittany and Lacey Adams, both of Savanna; a special nephew, David Struckman of Davenport, Iowa and several other nieces and nephews.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell; one daughter, Kathleen R. Smith; one brother, Harlan Seeger and three sisters, Thelma, Vida and Gwen.
