Audrey “Jeanne” Mickelson, age 85, of Savanna, Illinois, died Monday, November 16, 2009 at Freeport Memorial Hospital, Freeport. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna with Reverend Philip Bigelow of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service. Burial will take place in French Island, Wisconsin at a later date. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the funeral home in Savanna. A memorial fund has been established in Jeanne’s memory.
Jeanne was born on October 27, 1924, the daughter of Clifford and Julia (Hanson) Lovejoy in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She graduated from Logan High School in Wisconsin. Jeanne married Robert Lambert Mickelson on January 1, 1943 in LaCrosse. Robert passed away on November 6, 1971 in Savanna.
Jeanne was employed by Valves and Controls and later the Eaton Corporation, Savanna for twenty-four years. She was a member of the Eaton Retirees and the Birthday Club for over fifty years. Jeanne was a longtime member of the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Savanna. Jeanne, known by many as “Grandma” enjoyed reading and attending sporting events, especially baseball. Most of all, Jeanne loved spending time with her family and playing cards with her friends.
Jeanne will be dearly missed by her daughter, Sherry (Joe) Cruden of Rockford, Illinois; a son Rockne (Teresa) Mickelson of Savanna; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister in-law, Eleanor “Bud” Schulz of Onalaska, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and three brothers, Gerald, Leland and Wendell Lovejoy
