Arnold "Arnie" Brondyke

Arnold “Arnie” R. Brondyke age 72, of Preston, Iowa, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at home. A celebration of Arnie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston. Burial of ashes will take place in Preston Cemetery in Preston. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in Arnie’s memory.
Arnie was born on December 18, 1943 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Albert John and Evelyn E. (Hein) Brondyke. He attended Fulton High School in Fulton, Illinois and graduated with the Class of 1962. Following high school, Arnie attended an automotive trade school in Omaha, Nebraska. Arnie worked for Skyline Center Inc. in Clinton for 15 years, C. F. Industries in Albany, Illinois for 20 years and ADM/Clinton Corn for 14 years, McEleney in Clinton, the Cordova Nuclear Power Plant doing construction and the Fulton High School taking care of maintenance for 15 years.
Arnie married Jane K. Tenboer on January 29, 1965 at the First Reformed Church in Fulton, Illinois. He later married the love of his life Pamela Sue Urwin on July 9, 1996 in Clinton, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, camping, collecting small cars and trucks and gardening. Arnie devoted much of his time studying the bible, he was a faithful follower of Christ. Most of all, Arnie treasured the time he spent with his friends and family, he especially loved attending his grandkids school functions and ballgames.
Arnie will be dearly missed by his wife, Pamela; children, Scott (Diane) Brondyke of Dubuque, Iowa, Jeff (Miyesca) Brondyke of Fulton, Trish (Steve) McIntosh of Davenport, Iowa, Joel (Jenny) Driscoll of Preston, Josh (Trista) Driscoll of Bellevue, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, a sister, Rita (Larry) Zeeryp of Fulton and many nieces and nephews. Arnie was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, many uncles and aunts and a brother in-law.
