Arlowe was born on September 24, 1918, the son of Herman W. and Louisa (Strauch) Daehler in Chadwick. He was baptized on November 2, 1918 at home by a minister who happened to be going past the home (in horse and buggy) on his way to Fair Haven Church. He attended Fair Haven Center and graduated from Chadwick High School with the Class of 1936. Arlowe helped his father on the farm until 1941 when he was drafted into the Army during World War II. He served with the 132nd Infantry until 1945. He spent three years in the South Pacific, including the battle of Guadalcanal. After his discharge he returned home assisting with the family farm.
Arlowe married Hazel Delores Lepien on June 11, 1950. They settled on the family farm and retired from farming in 1982. They moved to the village of Chadwick in 1996. Arlowe was a life-long member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served twenty-years on the church council, was head usher and treasurer of Sunday school and the church. He was a member of the American Legion Post# 739 and served as Commander while the Legion Hall was being constructed in Chadwick. Arlowe was also a member of the Farm Bureau, served on the school board for seven years and was a Fair Haven Township trustee for twenty-three years. He enjoyed fixing things, visiting and was an avid reader. Arlowe never lost his interest in farming; always asking how the crops were doing.
