Arlis Jean Krabbenhoft, age 75 of Maquoketa, Iowa formerly of Andrew, Iowa died on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Maquoketa Care Center, Maquoketa. Cremation rights will be accorded. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 6, 2013 at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston, Iowa with Pastor Jeff Dadisman officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Reeseville Cemetery, rural Miles, Iowa. A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Miller-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Preston. A memorial fund has been established in Arlis’s memory.
Arlis was born on July 27, 1938 in Green Island, Iowa, the daughter of Russell and Algean (Krumviede) Hayward. She married Donald Krabbenhoft on March 4, 1955, in Andrew, Iowa. Donald died on January 30, 2010. Arlis was a homemaker who loved caring for her family. She cherished raising her family and was proud of her children and grandchildren. Arlis later worked as a cook for the Andrew Jackson Care Facility in rural Andrew for over ten years. Arlis enjoyed crocheting and attending barn dances with her husband, Donald.
Arlis is survived by three daughters, Pam Feller of Maquoketa, Brenda Bartels of Maquoketa and Lori (Russ) Houston of Delmar, Iowa; three sons, Dennis “Butch” (Mary) Krabbenhoft of Fairbank, Iowa, Roger Krabbenhoft of Sabula, Iowa, and Mike (Kate) Krabbenhoft of Andrew; twelve grandchildren, Kelly, Amanda (Chad), Ryan (Sarah), Kasey, Chantel, Sammy, Damian, Shelby, Kane, Noah, Isabel and Crixus; four great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Emalyn, Ashlyn and Porter; four brothers, George Hayward of Sabula, Robert (Sandy) Hayward of Alamo, Texas, Russell (Shawna) Hayward, Jr. of Green Island and Tom (Sue) Hayward of Green Island; three sisters, Judy Reed of Bellevue, Iowa, Dianne Barker of Maquoketa and Lorraine (Sam) Dobson of Green Island.
Arlis was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents, two sons in-law, Norman Bartels and Allen Feller and two grandchildren, Holly and Brittney Hicks.
