Arlin E. Buck of Hanover, IL died August 6, 2022 at home, surrounded by family. Arlin was born May 7, 1928 in Savanna, IL, the son of Orville L. and Carrie C (Wurster) Buck. He attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Savanna Township High School. He served in the United States Army in Japan and later at Ft. Leonardwood, MO, where he met and married Jeanne Wrinkle on December 8, 1951. They were married 70 years.
Arlin worked at Nesbitt’s Hardware Store in Savanna, Jahn Heavy Duty Trailer Company and later as a machinist/locksmith at the Savanna Army Depot. He owned and operated Buck’s Security Service in Hanover. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Savanna.
Arlin will be remembered for his honesty and integrity, kind heart, and willingness to help others. He had a great work ethic and a talent for fixing or building anything (always the perfectionist). He was a Godly man who lived out his faith and led by example. Although he was a man of few words, he had great wisdom and was respected by all.
Arlin is survived and lovingly remembered by Jeanne, his wife; sons Rick (Vicki) Buck of Andover, MN and Shawn (Lisa) Buck of Hanover, IL; and three daughters Debbie (Robert) Spoerl of Elizabeth, IL, Diane (Glenn) Putman of Canton, IL, and Denise (Chuck) Jurgensen of Loveland, CO; seven grandchildren Bethany Koehntop, Jeff (Kristine) Spoerl, Drew Jurgensen, Lauren (Kevin) Bryant, Nick (Sarah) Conklin, Sophie Buck and David Buck; nine great-grandchildren Rhodes, Patrick, Isabel, Charlotte, Violet, Jude, Myla, Elijah and Luke; and brother George Buck of Rockford, IL. He will be dearly missed by many friends and family.
Arlin is preceded in death by his parents and three grandchildren Allison Conklin, Carrie Spoerl, and Ricky Buck. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law John Conklin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Law-Jones Funeral Home in Hanover, IL. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Hanover. Friends and family may view the service live or at a later date at
