Arlene Tebbe

Arlene Tebbe, age 86, of Maquoketa, Iowa, formerly of Preston and Spragueville, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at Genesis Medical East, Davenport, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Preston. Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to Mass at the church. A memorial fund has been established in Arlene’s memory. Arlene was born July 1, 1931, in Spragueville, Iowa, on the family farm, the daughter of Clarence and Loretta (Schmidt) Feller. She attended Jackson County Township School. On April 28, 1953, Arlene married Sylvester Tebbe. They raised nine children and enjoyed 65 years of marriage.

Arlene was a homemaker who cherished taking care of her family. She farmed with her husband north of Spragueville until 1989. They moved to Preston where they lived until 2016 before moving to Clover Ridge in Maquoketa. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston. She loved polka dancing and waltzes. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, playing cards—her favorites were euchre and 500.

Arlene will be dearly missed by her husband of 65 years, Sylvester “Scout”; nine children, Diane (Delbert) Klemme of Preston, Mary (Roger) Burken of Blue Hill, Nebraska, Carol (Mitchell) Young of Poland, Darrel (Dianne) Tebbe of Spragueville, Iowa, Sharon (Roger) Johnson of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Charles (Jody) Tebbe of Spragueville, Lonnie (Margie) Tebbe of Spragueville, Rose (Thomas) Yaddof of Preston, and Lou Ann (Doug) Paulsen of Durant, Iowa; 28 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; brother Ardell Feller of Maquoketa, Iowa; two sisters, Mary Ann (Jeff) Driscoll of Preston, Iowa and Donna (Mike) Gill of Delmar, Iowa. Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Devon Yaddof; brother Ardo; and a sister Elgene (Richard) Tebbe.
