Anna Marie Lieb, age 95, of Elizabeth, Illinois, was called to her Eternal Home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, August 27, 2012, at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth, Illinois. Marie was born August 2, 1917 in Woodbine Township on the family farm, the daughter of Jacob John and Friedericke (Brudi) Haas. She attended the Allen Country School and Adult Education Classes at Highland Community College. Marie married Frank John Lieb on May 16, 1948. Frank passed away June 23, 1991.
Marie worked for Henney Motor Company, Rawleighs Corp. and Micro Switch, all located in Freeport. She also worked for the Elizabeth Nursing Home in House Keeping and served as an Elizabeth Township Election Judge. Most of all Marie enjoyed being a homemaker and helping with the family business in construction.
Marie was a member of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elizabeth, the Women’s Club, Dorcas Circle, Golden Agers, Church Choir, secretary of the local chapter of the AAL Insurance Co, and she served as a Sunday School Teacher for thirty years. She loved the time spent with her family and friends. Marie also enjoyed painting, crafts, flower gardening, and cake decorating.
Marie is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Rose Marie (Reverend Roger) Neumann of Oskaloosa, Iowa; three sons, Samuel (Peggy) Lieb of Heath, Ohio, Thomas Lieb of Dallas, Texas, Joseph (Jorene) Lieb of Galena, Illinois; seven grandchildren, David and Timothy Neumann and Chris, Brian, Jacob, Joy and Julia Lieb; and a brother, Fred Haas of Elizabeth. Marie is preceded in death by her husband; six brothers, Peter, Joseph, Gotthilf “Gus”, John, Paul and Erwin Haas; and an infant sister Katherine Haas.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pastor Kenneth Arndt will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Woodbine, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Law – Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth and one hour prior to the service at the Church.
