Anna J. Ditsworth, age 96 of Mount Carroll, Illinois, died on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Liberty Village in Freeport, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll with Reverend Teri Lafferty officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll. A visitation will held from 9:30-10:30 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Caroline Mark Home or the United Methodist Church in Anna’s memory.
Anna was born on August 20, 1915, the daughter of Ralph and Kate (Bielema) Hook in Thomson, Illinois. She attended school in Argo Fay. Anna married Kenneth Ditsworth on March 19, 1938 in Fulton, Illinois. Kenneth died on January 3, 1983. From 1948-1969, Anna and her husband, Kenneth farmed south of Mount Carroll. She later became the Head Cook Center Hill School for seventeen years, retiring in 1986. Anna was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Carroll County Senior Center and was a volunteer at the Carroll County Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She enjoyed baking, sewing, embroidery and playing cards.
Anna will be dearly missed by two children, James (Dixie) Ditsworth of Freeport, Illinois and Marjorie Guenzler of Amboy, Illinois; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; one son in-law, Kenneth Guenzler, one grandson, Steven Ditsworth, one great grandson, Jake Metzen; three brothers, Ernest, Alvin and Roy Hook; and a special friend, Pete Libberton.
