Anna May Bork

March 5, 1927 — February 28, 2014

Anna May Bork cared for her family and this was most important to her. She sacrificed, lived simply, and worked hard to provide for her family. At the age of 86, Anna May passed away at home in Savanna. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Bertha (Larry) Newton of Chadwick; three sons, Amil, John and David Bork, all of Savanna; nine grandchildren, Claudette, Thomas, Randall, Brenda, Teresa, Cynthia, Cherie, Christine and Cathleen; eighteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and a son-in-law, Marvin (Mary) Yenney of Savanna. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; daughter, Pauline Yenney; brother, David; and daughter-in-law, Joyce Bork.
Anna May was born March 5, 1927 in Woodland Township near Mt. Carroll, the daughter of Adam C. and Marie A. (Randecker) Beck. She grew up on the family farm and this is where she met her future husband Clyde, as he lived on the neighboring farm. They were married December 22, 1946. He passed away September 13, 1965. Anna May raised her children by working hard, taking jobs at many area restaurants and also working several years at Structo and Burgess Battery in Freeport. Her children remember her as a good homemaker and the person they could count on. "She was a great Mom." She enjoyed gardening and scrapping metal.
A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll with Pastor Vince Wilczynski of the Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the Funeral Home.
