Andrew Jacobsen

December 31, 1969 — March 6, 2012

Andrew Loran Jacobsen, age 18, of Goose Lake, Iowa died suddenly Tuesday, March 6, 2012 as a result of a motorcycle accident. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:26 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston, Iowa, with Father Don Hertges as Celebrant. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Goose Lake. Visitation will be held 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Church. A memorial in Andrew’s name has been established.
Andrew was born October 26, 1993 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Loran and Teresa (Daniels) Jacobsen. As he grew up on the family farm, Andrew was always proud of his older brothers, Lee and Matthew, and looked up to them. They were his role-models. He enjoyed the responsibility of farm life from an early age, feeding livestock and working in the field. He was a natural at working with hogs and cattle and was always concerned with the treatment of livestock. Andrew looked forward to graduating with the Class of 2012 at Northeast High School on May 13, 2012. He planned on attending Scott Community College studying welding, and then hopefully going to work for John Deere.
Andrew was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston, and was looking forward to Confirmation on March 18. His two favorite teams were the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Northeast Rebels. Andrew was an active member of the Goose Lake Junior Feeders 4-H Club and had great success raising and showing derby pigs at the Clinton County Fair. His welding projects were selected to go to the State Fair and received blue ribbons. He enjoyed music, four-wheeling, and was highly skilled playing the video game “Call of Duty” online. Friends were incredibly important to him and he enjoyed his time just hanging-out. Andrew’s big smile and sense of humor will be terribly missed by his family and friends. He would enjoy the fact that Mass starts at 10:26.
Andrew is survived by his parents, Loran and Teresa Jacobsen of Goose Lake; his two brothers, Lee Jacobsen (Amanda Callender) of Iowa City and Matthew Jacobsen of Clinton; his maternal grandfather, Darrell Daniels of Miles; his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Gladys Jacobsen of Clinton; his Godfather, Mark Daniels; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Andrew is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Barbara Daniels and his Godmother, Joyce Jacobsen Laster.
