Alvina Cecelia Stotler, age 80, of Savanna, Illinois, died Friday, January 29, 2010 at Galena-Stauss Senior Care Community, Galena, Illinois. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, Savanna. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services at the church. Burial will take place in Savanna Township Cemetery, Savanna at a later date. A visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund in Alvina’s memory.
Alvina was born on April 15, 1929,the daughter of Henry Adolph and Johanna (Dykman) Bolz in Gurley, Nebraska. She attended Gurley High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. Alvina married William R. Stotler on March 9, 1954 in Nebraska.
Alvina was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She also worked for the Eaton Corporation and Elkay Manufacturing. Alvina was active in the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder. She was also a member of the T.O.P.S. Club. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, traveling and hugging people.
Alvina will be dearly missed by her three sons, Rodney D. (Donna) Stotler of Hanover, Illinois, David L. (Sandra) Stotler of Sidney, Nebraska and Raymond E. Stotler of Akron, Colorado; one daughter, Wanda F. (Todd) Anderson of Brandenburg, Kentucky; one brother, William (Phyllis) Bolz of Sterling, Alaska; one sister, Mary (Robert) Wells of Twin Falls, Idaho; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Alvina is preceded in death by her husband, William; three sisters, Eliza Reinmuth, Emma Bolz and Lillie Hansen; three brothers, Henry Bolz, Jurgen Bolz and Herman Bolz; and two granddaughters, Shana Anderson and Sheila Stotler.
