Alvin F. Neumeister, age 95, died Monday, April 27, 2015, at home in rural Hanover with loving family at his side. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to share in Alvin’s life at

Alvin was born May 17, 1919, in Portland, Oregon, the son of Arthur and Anna (Reimers) Neumeister. In 1940 he received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin. Alvin proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1943-1965, achieving the rank of Commander. On September 1, 1940, Alvin married Virginia Hacker in Saginaw, Michigan.
Alvin worked as a buyer for boy's jeans, developing the "Toughskins" for Sears Roebuck in Chicago, Illinois, for 35 years. Upon retiring from Sears he pusured a degree as a registered nurse, working until he was 80 years old. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, medical mission work, traveling, and bird watching.
Alvin is survived by four children, John Neumeisuter of Sussex, New Jersey, Willam Neumeister of Ottertail, Minnesota, Kathryn (Donald) Kautz of Hanover, Illinois, and David Neumeister of Ottertail, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his parents; and a brother, Walter.
