Alva "Al" J. Dent

Alva "Al" J. Dent, age 49, died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2007 at the Savanna Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, Illinois, with Reverend Marsha Wilfong of the First Presbyterian Church, Bellevue, Iowa officiating. A memorial fund has been established in Al's memory.
Al was born on July 7, 1958, the son of Charles and Lillian (Dawson) Dent in Iowa City, Iowa. Al worked at Skyline Center in Clinton, Iowa for over thirty-three years. Al enjoyed playing cards and watching television. He especially enjoyed watching "Walker Texas Ranger". Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Al is survived by a brother, Paul (Deborah) Dent of Bellevue, Iowa; two sisters, Sarah (Gerald) Heath of Clinton, Iowa and Irene (Ted) Pope of Poteau, Oklahoma; three nephews Jered Dent of Bellevue, Iowa, Gerald Heath, Jr. and Aaron Heath both of Clinton, Iowa; one niece Erica (Andrew) Browns of Dubuque, Iowa. Al is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Tom and Gene.Al's family would like to thank Skyline Center, Big Meadows Nursing Home and Genesis Hospice for all their help and kindness to our family.
