Alpha Lee Schaut, age 78, a long time resident
of Mt. Carroll, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2005 in Lakeside, California. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the Mt. Carroll Church of God. Christian Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery Mt. Carroll. Visitation will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2005 at the Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll. Alpha was born July 31, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of John J. and Zayda B. (Pryor) Jewell. On April 7, 1951, Alpha married James David Schaut in Carroll County, Illinois. James passed away in 1981.
Alpha worked for ELKAY Corporation for fifteen years until retiring. After retirement she looked forward to her monthly luncheons with her friends from ELKAY. Alpha also did babysitting for families in the community. She was a member of the Mt. Carroll Church of God. She enjoyed gardening, camping, reading, flowers and watching hummingbirds.
Alpha will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Jonna O’Dell (Bill) McDannell of Lakeside, California and Barbara (Richard) Imel of Mt. Carroll, Illinois; six grandchildren, Marty Gosser, Rebekah (Joey) Morrow, Dietrich Gosser, Lesley (Mark) Ertmer, Lori (Michael) House, Lisa Imel; two step-grandchildren, Kari (Joseph) Atkins and Jay Mc Dannell; several nieces and nephews; and four great grandchildren.
Alpha is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Donald Jewell and one sister Ruth Stevens.
